    I met Bill Wallace twice in the 1980s , he is an accomplished wrestler and a judo player. When he was young, he was frighteningly musclebound and could kick close to 60 mph. I saw it with my own eyes. He was no joke.

    Lots of MMA and kickboxing world champions on here telling a former world champion that what he does is ineffective and outdated. I suggest a different video where he's going full speed. I think he'd change your mind. The fact you are saying this means you don't know who he is and you have no respect for him.

    I would love to see how he would do in his prime in MMA today because there's nobody like him. There's nobody in MMA that can kick you in the head like this guy. People don't train that exclusively anymore to develop that kind of technique but He's a real fighter and was pretty much unbeatable in the ring. If superfoot learned BJJ technique. He would have been a UFC champ, I am sure of it. Watch his old fights.

    Isn’t this really more of a critique of the side stance? Which is why, among many other reasons, the MMA guys don’t use it.

    I’ve experienced many of Bill’s seminars and he’s one of the best salesman in martial arts, which is very important when you are an instructor and teaching seminars. This is how you keep your audience engaged. Now having said that, you can take a few things from what he is is teaching and apply it to your foundation but his style is not a good foundation for modern point Karate, Tae Kwon do, or Kickboxing. I have no doubt with Bill’s genetics and work ethic he would of been a star in modern times. The sports have evolved and most of his techniques are now outdated and don’t work effectively at a high level of competition. This is not a knock against Bill I’m just pointing out that these techniques are old school and if you try to apply them against world class fighters you will get annihilated. I’ve been competing in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and Kickboxing for 20 years and have four world championship titles so I think I’m qualified to give my perspective. Great guy, amazing athlete, techniques are outdated. IMO ✌️

      He was a high school wrestler and judo black belt before he got into karate, so he has a great all around foundation for MMA.

    • @rockinredneck57
      @rockinredneck57 7 місяців тому

      His strength isn't just his speed, but the fact he can throw multiple kicks at different levels without setting his leg down. I don't see fighters doing that and it was very effective for him. It can keep your opponent off guard and off balance. He can't counter when you are kicking multiple times in a row without setting his leg down. That might be why he was undefeated as world champion. Plus, his punches were very strong. For modern MMA, he'd need BJJ training, but with his judo background, that would come natural.

    Great technique. But by all do respect. I was a WTF taekwondo fighter. We don't punch a lot. So after my last taekwondo fight 2008. I started kick boxing and muaythai. They don't block jabs like that. Kick boxer they parry or slip the jab while countering. And I don't know what their counter will be. It can be punches, knees, or kicks. And with the Thai fighters they block a jab with left elbow. I can do that sidekick technique with muaythai fighters. But the are very strong fighters. They conditioned their entire body with kicks n punches from all the guys train in the gym. It's crazy. I've been to Thailand. Train with the Thai. And I get knocked down taking hooks at the abs area while we are doing conditioning. I did this technique while I spar with one of the Thai fighter he took my sidekick smiling. WTF. I thought I kick hard. I knocked view people down with that sidekick in taekwondo match. They wear body protectors. But when you do that sidekick to a active Thai fighters it doesn't work. Yes I know we WTF taekwondo fighters didn't do conditioning. Specially for the abs area and legs. We don't kick legs. And when I get my 1 st conditioning training in Thailand i almost couldn't wake up the next morning. No intention of discrediting taekwondo cus i still love taekwondo but when you're fighting a different kind of styles you have to adapt to that style. I'm sorry I hope nobody get offended but this is my experience

    I waisted my time listening to people like this In street fights or real fights your opponent doesn’t stand watching you jab three times before you kick them They actually start the attack first and usually they’ll knock you out first as taekwondo is a self defence art meaning you wait before you attack Fighters will just go in a knock you out plus that kick with feet together isn’t effective I advise you to switch from taekwondo to muAy Thai
